Cole Porter is mentioned adoringly by the Man in Chair in Drowsy Chaperone.
Drowsy Chaperone is a spin off of that era's musicals.
Musicals are bright and fun and I just finished uploading all of my pictures for Drowsy Chaperone which is in the style of Anything Goes.
How's that for a train of thought?

A few days ago, I went to Chili's with some friends of mine and somewhere along the way, Anna decided to carry Carissa there. They decided to stop and smell the flowers by one of the dorms and Anna had to drop her in the grass. It was however a great moment for picture taking that led right into an hour of laughter. The whole event was just fun and conveniently enough for today, Carissa looks striking in her orange shirt.
What a nice theme, this should be simple, right? Nope. As I look through, I find plenty of pictures that are genuine or legit, but not so much artificial. Still, pushing on I am pleased to present a pair of pictures from a little fruit stand in Hong Kong. These were taken looking over the rail of the Mid-Levels escalator -- the World's Longest Series of Outdoor Escalators. The title itself is certainly not artificial, but I do have to wonder how much competition there is for it. Anyway, I loved the colors in the market and how the yellow isolation brought out the woman's magnficant yellow jacket and how the green brought out the very interesting roofline that does not catch the eye in any other picture. Without further ado, the Mid-Levels fruit stand with incomplete (therefore artificial) coloring.
And for fun, I also came across the picture of this dog from Thailand, whose ears were given artificial coloring.

Utensil:What luck! I have a picture of a single object that fits both definitions of utensil, from one of my scenic projects last semester.
Also, need a writing utensil? Another result of a scenic project...
I only have one: This was taken in Juarez, Mexico from the dingy building in which we had our meals and worship services. I like the window pane and the rooftop and how despite the dust and the distance, this flag is proudly waving.
In my love for taking pictures of amusing signs, I assumed that the hardest part of this week's theme would be narrowing down the choices. However, I quickly stumbled across the perfect picture. I presume from the disappearance of this product's availability, this was a very successful advertisement.
I wish I was at home for this one so that I could take a picture of our bookshelf, which is double stacked in many places and creatively squeezed to fit everything in, except for my top shelf which has a lot of blank spaces from me shoving books into the hands of my friends with (and some without) free time. And I certainly don't have enough books.
Plastic? Really? Okay. Here goes! 
Also in Peru, our plastic shower. This was all good and well until the kid on the street got his kite stuck in the tree above the shower and climbed up to retrieve it...
It's odd, but my mind went first to performers who wore heavy, "painted" makeup. I was going to flip through my banquet pictures to find someone who went a little extreme on the make up, then I remember that we completely painted our moon character in blue makeup. Here he is as he is being painted. 
The spirits also had pretty extraordinary makeup, so here are our painted woodland creatures under stage lights..jpg)
Following the theatre banquet fall of my freshman year, my friend Kara and I were invited to a cookie decorating party hosted by someone we knew outside the department. We arrived a little late and all dolled up, but enjoyed making use of what was left over. Kara asked for an apron, since it is an essential part of all baking tasks and was presented with this purple patchwork apron. Right before taking this picture to show off her masterpieces, Kara proudly declared, "Eat your heart out, Betty Crocker!"
This is one that was so painfully obvious I wanted to look for something out of the ordinary (ie, not a striped shirt). I was pleased to find this picture of my mom in front of her university for language school and for this exercise we want to focus on the traffic stripes. Mom said she had to cross the street so quickly, with such broad strides that she felt like she was on Abbey Road.
After rehearsal to unwind: I was fascinated by the reflection of John's the keys and I like the silhouette here. The piano is my favorite instrument to listen to so I am thankful that people have more gifted hands than me.
After a trip to Ecuador, my brother was asked how many people you can fit on an Ecaudorian bus. My brother wisely answered, "One more." This concept holds true for much of the world, particularly Latin America. On last year's church trip to Juarez, Mexico, my team had to fit 70-something people on a school bus (capacity 48?) along with several boxes for sound equipment, drama equipment, often our lunches, and at least one guitar. Here is a small sample of the lack of space: 
What an impossible word! Here are a few of the things I am thankful for, family, friends, roommates, theatre, college, hard work, good times, open air, chameleon sky, purple lighting, the Atlantic, music, Microsoft Office, lumber mills, power tools, electricity, color, aesthetics, symbolism, beds, blankets, empty stages, full houses, quiet times, quiet tears, dances, and icing fights. Naturally, I have multiple pictures for most of these words so how do I narrow it down? For the purpose of this exercise, I will assign a term that means all these things: Life.
